Tahquamenon Falls State Park has almost 50,000 acres, over 13 miles. Did you know that the Upper Falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. It has a drop of nearly 50 feet and is more than 200 feet across. A maximum flow of more than 50,000 gallons of water per second has been recorded cascading over these falls. This year the Michigan State Parks is celebrating 100 years, as they were established on May 12, 1919. The State Park system has gone all out in creating a year long celebration for this momentous occasion.
